Student Case Competition

Purpose

College students from campuses across Arkansas are given the opportunity to add value to their student-level experience at the ARSHRM State Conference and as an attempt to expose the students to what occurs at the regional showcase competition level. The presentations mirror what a group of professional HR consultants would deliver to a business dealing with the issue addressed in the case.  Multiple platforms of presentations are encouraged.

Guidelines

The competition is based on the SHRM Case Competition.

In this “realistic job preview” competition, team members leverage knowledge acquired through their studies and apply it to a realistic HR situation likely to be encountered in the work world. This competition requires integrated HR thinking, ethical decision-making, and strong communication and presentation skills. As part of the competition’s virtual preparation, teams will analyze a business case study and come up with a solution, preparing both a written executive summary and PowerPoint slides to be used for the 15-minute oral presentation at the onsite competition. Oral presentation rounds will be held onsite. Teams will compete by delivering their 15-minute oral presentation to a panel of judges and answering additional questions the judges deem relevant to ask. Prizes (to be determined) will be awarded to the first and second place teams.
