The District 6170 Nominating Committee is pleased to announce that Dennis Cooper of the Rotary Club of Magnolia has been selected to serve as the District Governor for the Rotary year July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
Dennis is on the SAHRA board and has been a Rotarian for 18 years, 14 of which he served in the Rotary Club of Paragould, Arkansas, (District 6150), before moving to Magnolia and continuing his Rotary career in 2013. He served the Paragould club as its president, and has been nominated to serve as president of the Magnolia club in 2017 – 18. He currently serves as Assistant Governor for Area 05 that includes the Rotary Clubs of Hope, Magnolia, Prescott, and Stamps. Dennis has received numerous honors and awards attesting to his leadership skills and dedication to Rotary and to his community as well as a distinguished military career. He recently completed Emerging Leaders Training at the Rotary Zone Institute in New Orleans. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Paul Harris Society, and a Sustaining Member.
Dennis has served since August 2013 as the Pre-Health Recruiter/Educational Coordinator for the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences – South in Magnolia. He and his wife, Shawnee, enjoy the outdoors and love to travel.
The selection of Dennis by the Nominating Committee will be presented for the approval of the District’s clubs during the district business meeting at District Conference in Hot Springs on May 13.
