Michele Burns, MA, SPHR, CCP, CBP, GRP was the
recipient of the 2008 Outstanding Professional of the Year Award
presented at the 2008 Arkansas Human Resources Conference & Expo. Michele was awarded this honor for her outstanding service and promotion of the profession of Human Resources Management.
Michele Burns is the Group Compensation Specialist for Arvest Bank. She previously worked for Superior Bank were she was the Recipient of Superior Bank's President's Performance Award in 2003.
Michele is certified by the Human Resources Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources Management (SPHR). Additionally, she is certified by World at Work (formerly the American Compensation Association) as CCP (Certified Compensation Professional), CBP (Certified Benefits Professional), and GRP (Group Remuneration Professional). Michele holds a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development from Webster University.
Michele is an articulate one-on-one communicator, with an extensive background as a human resource generalist in both union and non-union settings. She is a specialist in the areas of compensation, benefits, and global remuneration.
Michele has taught with the John Brown University Advance Program in Fort Smith and with the Fort Smith campus of Webster University. She has instructed college level courses in Human Resources Management; Legal Issue in Employment Law; Introduction to Research; Introduction to Organizational Management; Principles of Management and Leadership; Organizational Communications; Integrative Strategies in Marketing, Compensation, and Written Communications.
Michele has previously presented as a concurrent speaker at the 2001, 2005, and 2008 Arkansas Human Resources State Conference and Expo. She has been actively involved in the field of Human Resources as a volunteer serving in various positions including ARSHRM Arkansas State Certification Chair; WAHRA (Western Arkansas Human Resource Association) President, President Elect, Treasurer, and Certification Chair and she currently serves as the ARSHRM State Council Chapter Advocate Director.
