2001 Outstanding Professional in Human Resources Recipient - Russell Gunter, SPHR
Russell Gunter, SPHR was named the 2001 Arkansas Outstanding Professional in Human Resources at the 2001 State Conference in Fort Smith.
Russell, an attorney with Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon, and Galchus, graciously accepted the award saying, “I am proud to serve along with my fellow HR professionals.”
Certified since 1990, Russell has served as the SHRM National Legislative Affairs Director, Arkansas State Conference Chair, Legislative Affairs Committee Co-Chair, and State Legislative Affairs Director. He was voted AHRA’s chapter Associate Member of the Year in 1994, and Outstanding Member of the Year in 1998 and 2001.
He has paid many visits to Capitol Hill on behalf of HR professionals to express our viewpoint on legislation; even testifying in committee meetings. Likewise, he has testified before legislative committees before the Arkansas Legislature to pass or defeat legislation. He selflessly has given countless hours to conducting seminars and serving on committees at the local, state and national levels.
